A Month Of Martin Garrix

A Month Of Martin Garrix

It’s been an eventful past few weeks for one of the world’s biggest music producers, Martin Garrix. Between releasing multiple hit singles, to being the youngest person ever to be labeled #1 DJ of the year by DJ Magazine, to putting out his third EP under his very own record label, it’s no secret that he is one of the most watched producers in his genre.

Garrix, born Martijn Gerard Garritsen, is a Dutch music producer who came onto the scene in 2012 when he was only 16. Since then he has put out 3 EPs, started his own record company known as STMPD RCRDS, and captivated the attention of audiences all over the world. After his recent earning of the #1 DJ title with DJ Mag, it was made clear to the world that Garrix’s straight shot to the top is far from over.

And he did all of this without having released a full-length album.

While fans are anxiously awaiting a debut album from Garrix, he has not given much information as to when this will be released. Many of the tracks on this album made their live debut in March at his performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, without having been released for digital download. However, his recent release of Seven, an EP with seven tracks under his label STMPD RCRDS, is a significant mile-marker for Garrix. Since so much of dance music is based heavily on quick-to-change trends, many producers will try and release their music as soon as possible after it’s finished, which often results in them releasing singles rather than full-length albums. Therefore, Garrix’s release of seven singles in seven days showcases a lot of artistic ability and hard work on his part. This can allow fans to relax and enjoy his music, even if they are still itching for that full-length album.

Seven is a compilation of many of Garrix’s different sounds, highlighting his many talents and styles as a DJ and a producer. The EP includes tracks in which he collaborates with producers like Jay Hardway, Florian Picasso, and several others. Listeners can groove to Garrix’s light and house-y style in “WIEE”, dance to the drop in “Spotless”, and belt out the meaningful lyrics in “Together”. Garrix began his track-a-day-for-seven-days through the Amsterdam Dance Event on October fifteenth. By the end of the week, he had shared a work that would reach all types of listeners from all over the world.

The release of this EP combined with his #1 DJ title have put Garrix in the spotlight even more than ever before. There is no doubt that Garrix’s musical journey is just beginning, and the world can only sit back and wait to see what he’ll do next.
