The Aftermath of the Campout – A Bonanza Campout Narrative

The Aftermath of the Campout – A Bonanza Campout Narrative

Did you make it to this year’s biggest and Bonanza mountain music festival or did you decide that being out in nature just wasn’t your hype? I know my answer and it’s a wild one!

This year’s Bonanza Campout took place out in River’s Edge, UT right next to the Jordanelle Reservoir and the crowd was bigger than ever! There were two stages, the Bonanza stage and Shade stage that hosted many different artists throughout the weekend, including Duke DumontChet Faker, and even the main headliner, Odesza! This festival is known for its camping grounds, including cabins that represent VIP like no other! Besides music and camping, there was also heavy loads of art hanging around the festival and camping grounds, along with delicious food trucks, exquisite vendors selling different accessories, and even free hammocks to lay around in!

After this week of imagining last weekend all over again and trying to process the memories, I can finally say that this festival was a weekend to remember and here is why you should go (or come back).

This was my first three-day festival back in one of the cities I grew up in, which is Park City, UT, having the campout be twenty minutes away from my town. Since having Bonanza Campout only hosting their second year of the festival, I wasn’t expecting a lot like some of the big festivals that happen around the world (Ultra Music Festival, Firefly Festival, etc.) but boy was I wrong! Bonanza had so much to offer for only their second year – wonderful music acts, beautiful art vendors, free hammocks, etc. I can honestly say that Bonanza Campout can be known as “The Coachella of the Wasatch Mountains”. The vibe of the crowd was unbelievable and I was going back and forth making new friends for the weekend that I couldn’t imagine meeting without experiencing this weekend. I also loved the “intimate” feeling of the music festival, sometimes us music-lovers need that!

All of the music sets I witnessed were breath-taking, especially in the intimate feeling of not too many Bonanza goers. With all of the sets doing a wonderful job, my favorite artist I saw that I can say is Odesza. The atmosphere was perfect for their sounds and the crowd was definitely at its peak. There was not one moment during their performance where I was feeling any worry or sadness; it’s like it all went away. Everything was pure bliss between me and everyone around me – nothing could’ve been any more perfect than that moment of the last minutes of Bonanza Campout – and I would live it all over again if I could.

If you weren’t at this year’s Bonanza Campout, I can safely say you definitely have missed out and you need to come next year! It’s an amazing experience, especially for a first-time festival!
