An Interview with DVBBS
Hailing from Toronto, DVBBS (pronounced “dubs”) are an electronic duo comprised of brothers Alexandre and Christopher Van Den Hoef. The duo has become known for their vibrant, energetic sound and skillful use of vocals from the beginning. DVBBS recently sat down at AOL’s BUILD HQ in New York City for an interview regarding their upcoming endeavors as well as their recent projects.
Last month, the duo released their EP “Beautiful Disaster,” a project named as a means of describing the rollercoaster of emotions seen at their shows.
“This whole world exists in this sacred balance of ups and downs, positives and negatives, all coming together; a beautiful disaster.”
Despite barely releasing the EP last month, DVBBS is set to release their new project in March of this year. The project is tentatively titled “Blood of my Blood.” Whether “Blood of my Blood” will be an EP or a full-length album is yet to be decided; however, the likes of Cody Simpson, 2 Chainz, and Belly are linked to the project.
Aside from being producers, DVBBS have also created a brand, under which they launched their own festival after a natural disaster took place and their own label, Kanary.
In the interview below, the Van Den Hoef brothers discuss the process of recording in the jungles of Pattaya, Thailand, which they describe as a “life changing experience”.
The two also describe their writing process and how they tour for two weeks at a time, followed by a week off to write, produce, and record.
