Beatport Announces Major Renovation for Services Offered to Fans

The often used website for EDM fans is highly recognized for their top 10 and top 100 for a variety of genres in EDM. For many, especially DJ’s, Beatport has served as the express on new releases and what is hot in the world of dance music.

Most recently, Beatport has expanded to other horizons in offering streaming services, news, livestream and more. However, the renowned company in EDM now feels it is best to cut these extra features and focus solely on improvements and stability of their music store.

Beatport released an official statement on the matter where they included the following:

“…We have determined to invest in what is most important to our business and our customers, rather than adding yet another choice to a sea of streaming services.

This means we will be shutting down the Streaming service and mobile app, Beatport News, the Video livestreaming platform, and the Events section effective May 13, 2016…

Going forward, we will refocus our attention and resources on our flagship business, the Beatport Store. We’ve already made noticeable improvements in site performance, with our most-used features (track, release, artist, and genre pages) running up to 51% faster…”

Focusing on the music store could be of great benefit to both Beatport and its users. This could especially be true if the site performance continues to progress and run at a faster rate in order to provide a better experience for EDM fans who use the service.

Overall, Beatport desires to go back to its roots and foundations in order to provide the best possible product for its customers. Only time will tell how this decision will pan out, but as of now, this seems like a positive direction for all involved.
