[Behind The Beat] Break Your Neck With Mark The Beast
Mark The Beast at Webster Hall was one of my favorite shows, hands down. Opening before Spock and Datsik, Mark The Beast made his name known that night at Webster Hall. It is an absolute pleasure to have him with us today. I hope you guys are more excited than I am.

From Albany, New York, Mark The Beast has made a name for himself and isn’t stopping. He’s been killing it in the scene and if you don’t believe me, let’s drop some knowledge.
Mark The Beast
From playing guitar and piano, he’s been all over the spectrum. From crafting music for commercials and movies from crafting hip hop beats for the likes of Prodigy of Mobb Deep. But wait, there’s more. Starting out, his first release was a collaboration with Excision and Downlink called Go Low, which is so sick! He’s collaborated with well-known producers such as Downlink, Mayhem, and Counterstrike. One of the songs, Carcosa hit #1 on the Beatport Dubstep chart. I can go on and on about the commendable work he’s done.
Here is the man of the hour, Mark The Beast!
Thanks for being with us today, how’s it going? You played Webster Hall recently, what else has been going on? It’s going well. Just been working on music, wrapped up a 4 track EP that’ll be coming out in October, besides that just working on some remixes and a few singles/collabs.
I saw you for the first time at Webster and I broke my neck, which mix do you see yourself head banging to the most? Sorry for your neck haha. I like listening to Noisia Radio or Evolcast 🙂
I’ve been listening to your remix of ATLiens – Alchemy that was just released a couple of days ago, what inspired the direction of the remix? You hear many complimentary elements. I honestly just tried to have fun with it and make it a tune that would work on the dance floor that I would want to play out. I made all the sounds on my modular unit so I had a bit of fun with that.
Inspiration, Pineapples On Pizza and New Releases
What inspires you the most when you’re creating? Honestly, I just play around with stuff until I get inspired, I don’t know if it’s one certain thing that I can say inspires me. Comes and goes, you know?
You could have gone into any genre of music with your background, what made you get into bass/dubstep? Honestly, I just love it, started making it and got addicted to it. I also produce outside the Mark The Beast project though.
Tell us more about projects outside Mark The Beast? TBA 😉
What’s your genre of choice? Whether it’s mixing or just vibing to? I like listening to drum and bass/metal.
Where’s your favorite place to go to escape? My studio is my favorite place to escape! Or the bar. haha
Do pineapples go on pizza? Obviously. Next question
If you could collaborate with one producer for the rest of your life, who would it be? Honestly probably Noisia.
Any new releases coming out soon? Yes! I have a remix for Mantis coming out this Friday, a single “covered in roses” coming out the 22nd and a collab with Dieselboy bare and Armanni reign on the 28th called demolition.
Would you be interested in mixing live with us on a Mix Music Monday in the future? Possibly! Let’s talk more about that.
