Blast from the Past: 80’s-90’s Rave Trends

Oversized mad hats, pacifiers, cotton candy hair, visor beanies, overalls..oh my! This, my friends, was the 80’s and 90’s. Lets’ take a trip down memory lane, shall we? As the rave movement took over like a storm, it also introduced a few familiar whacky trends. Fasten your seat belts boy and girls, this ride is going to be a nostalgic one.

Candy necklaces, Candy Rings: It was no question that you would be keeping a few of these bad boys in your bag to last you the entire the night. Also makes for a rad accessory!

Oversized mad hats: These were ridiculously fun and bold. Wear one of these at your next rave, and you’ll be sticking out like a sore thumb!

Whistles: A thing of the 80’s! What a fantastic way to follow along with the beat! It was a sure thing that you would’ve had one of these around your neck while trying to keep up with the high energy atmosphere.

Binkies: oh yes, the infamous binky..or pacifier, whichever you prefer to call it! The rave scene has always had these. Binkies were fun, playful and a way to keep our “infant” days alive.

Baggy pants: Oh, the bagginess. Baggy, oversized pants made it possible for you to combat the heat of the congested dance floor. Also giving you the freedom to show of those dance moves!

Did you have a good time riding through memory lane? I know I did. And apparently the ravers of the 80’s and 90’s did too-considering that some of these whacky trends are things that are continuously being infused into our rave culture today. We see bits and pieces of these trends being modernized to fit a new generation of ravers. A fusion between the old and the new. The rave culture continues to reinvent itself as time passes. Take one of these “Blast from the Past” rave trends and make it your own. See you at the next “underground party!”
