Chicago’s cold, wet spring weather didn’t stop Chicagoans from catching Flux Pavilion at Concord Music Hall this past Friday (5/19) for his Windy City stop of Around the World in 80 Raves tour. His distinct teal hair came into view peeking behind the deck before Flux himself greeted the massive crowd. Accompanying Flux Pavilion were British drum and bass (D&B) artist and producer Mark Wilkinson better known by his stage name Wilkinsonalong with some Southern charm from Kayzo.
Flux Pavilion‘s Around the World in 80 Raves Chicago stop was nothing short of amazing. The high quality production of colorful lighting and eye-catching visuals captivated showgoers and made their jaws drop. Each song’s drop perfectly timed with animations resembling a retro, classic video game.
HisDJ set pumped bass through your body. Feeling it from the floor, it traveled from your feet all the way up to your chest. Tracks like ‘I Can’t Stop’ and ‘Feel Your Love‘ moved bodies up and down and side-to-side while other songs (‘International Anthem‘) had people singing at the top of their lungs. JOYRYDE and Noisia made an appearance, no not quite on stage but Flux did sprinkle these electronic artists throughout his set among others.
