First I would like to say thank you for taking this interview
No problem, Thank you guys for having me!
Every great DJ/producer has a muse who/what inspires you?
A heavy inspiration for me is old hardcore music, the music I grew up with. Furthermore I listen to all kinds of music for inspiration.
What sets you apart from other DJ/Producers out there?
The tracks I produce and my choice of tracks that I play. Every artist has his own style within hardstyle because of this. This and your online profile/image and performing style makes every artist unique I think.
You are playing at EDC Las Vegas. What can we expect from your set?
My fans can expect the same thing is I always do, pure raw hardstyle with a wide variety.
What other artist are you looking forward to seeing at EDC?
I hope that i can see the set of Axwell & Ingrosso, I’m a big fan of Axwell since his early productions.
The relationship with the audience is crucial for a DJ, and yet it seems to be a fragile
one. How do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?
My main goal is to play as much underground tracks as possible, but the main part of the crowd wants to hear hits and tracks that work. These hit-tracks also give a good atmosphere in the crowd, that’s also important for me. So i try to find a balance between cool, new or underground stuff and hit-tracks to keep the party going for everybody.
What is something you would change about the industry if you could snap your fingers and change it?
No more political games, i hate that shit.
If you were not in the music industry what would you be doing?
I think i would have an office job or something behind the scenes in the dance industry.
What is the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?
I can’t remember anything crazy, just nice things.
Of all your tracks which was the most challenging to put together?
The Haunter of the Dark, also the track I am most proud of.
Listen to DJ Adaro’s latest release Rock now with B-Front
Name three perks to being a DJ/Producer
1. the advantage of making your work from your hobby
2. deciding your own working hours.
3. no boss you have to listen to
Best advice you have been given?
Focus on 1 music style. Before i focused on hardstyle I did lots of different genres, and nothing really broke through.
What do you enjoy doing on your downtime?
Spend time with my girlfriend, friends and family, Boxing, Watching a good series or movie, Reading books and magazines.
Touring the world how is the crowd overseas different than in the US?
The US crowd is more open-minded musically than in The Netherlands. Over here raw is dominating the scene and in the US the people like all kinds of hardstyle. It’s great to see people enjoying euphoric, raw and reverse bass style!
Everyone has one, what is your guiltiest pleasure?
I drink too much Red Bull.
What is one track/song that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it? (any genera)
Lots of Dr Dre productions from the Chronic 2001 album still sound timeless.
Other than EDC Las Vegas what else are you looking forward to in 2016?
The whole summer is filled with great festivals, like Defqon.1, Decibel and Intents Festival where Crypsis and I host our own area. Also I’m looking forward to Defqon Australia.
