[Festival Review] Dancefestopia 2017
Dancefestopia 2017 lived up to its name.
I was able to meet so many amazing people and dance the night away to the music of electronic sets.
Many amazing artists such as Datsik, Zeds Dead, Space Jesus, Jack Novak, Bassnectar, Grizzly and 12th Planet took us to a world full of dance and sound. One set that really stood out to me was Bassnectar’s set Saturday night. He was relentless with his constant sound and high energy. It was impossible to stay still. I was also able to speak with the very talented Jack Novak. She is truly a remarkable DJ with such a passion for music and life. There will be more on her interview later.
The setup of Dancefestopia was perfect. The festival was in Kansas City next to the Missouri River. There were three different stages. The first stage was this pyramid stage by the field camping area. There was also a Rage Stage and the Main Stage. The main stage was right next to this hill that was shaded by trees. This was especially perfect in the afternoons when the heat of the day was definitely felt. The Rage Stage held lights and sounds in a really cool way because it was sort of an inside tent-like set up. Being able to experience the sounds from all of the stages was wonderful.
There were also many different little shops and vendors with cool art, food, and clothes. This festival truly was a beautiful place.
