[Listen] Deon Custom & Glacci Release New Track “Zaffre”
EDM DJs, Deon Custom and Glacci, put out a new single this year called “Zaffre” that totally blew my mind the other day!
“Zaffre” has an incredible melody throughout the song, and the drop delivers on many, many levels. The tune itself is a heavy mix of trap and a little more hardstyle, and it stuck out in the mix I was listening to, which is a very good thing.
“Zaffre” has a very ethereal start. There are elements that remind me space, a heavy reliance on wind effects, and unique use of synth. The track then quickly jumps into a psychedelic repetition of rings, accompanied by heavy percussion snaps, all a bit reminiscent of early Rustie in some ways. The drop itself feels strongly influenced by bit-tunes, and the effect I get from the song in the drop is kind of a spiraling outwards effect. It seems as if the song itself is climbing, but also spinning, in this strange pseudo-calling out to the listener.
There are elements throughout “Zaffre” that seem like a xylophone, in how the ascend and descend, and there are a number of popping effects as well. The tune slows down very briefly, roughly halfway through the song, retaining the ethereal and spacey vibes throughout. The build comes back even stronger after this brief recess, and the drop comes back even sharper, and louder. The spiraling effect increases, playing with the popping effects, even more, all harmonizing together into this cavalcade of etherealness. Everything feels in place, and when the sudden, sharp ending approaches the fade out is smooth as a result.
“Zaffre” definitely feels like a complete song. Both EDM DJs should definitely be checked out, their whole repertoire is phenomenal. The electronic elements at play are fascinating, and the drop is just downright awesome.
