DJ Poizon Ivy Tapped For NBA All-Star Weekend

In almost every intersection of the entertainment industry, it appears that women are taking over. Female directors are sweeping awards nominations, female musicians are taking over the radio, and more projects are female-led. With that being said, there is also a notable absence of female producers and DJs in the hip-hop and EDM scene. DJs and producers like Alison Wonderland and Kittens have made many a wave over the past two years, however, it’s rare that a female audio engineer headlines a festival.

Given the rise of equality movements in recent time, it is likely that we may begin seeing a rise of female DJs and producers taking over the music scene. To kick off the year, Dallas’s own DJ Poizon Ivy was named the official DJ for 2018’s NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.

DJ Poizon Ivy’s journey to NBA All-Star Weekend has been one of hard work, perseverance, self-discipline, and dedication. Throughout her career, she has accomplished many feats, including becoming WKKV-FM’s first female mixer. She has opened for the likes of Nas, J Cole, Wiz Khalifa, and many more. Upon moving to Dallas, she became a mixer for K104, as well as the first-ever female DJ for the Dallas Mavericks and the second ever female DJ in the history of the NBA.

Apart from her upcoming stint at NBA All-Star Weekend, DJ Poizon Ivy was also recently nominated for Female DJ of the Year at this year’s Global Spin Awards. She also kicked off the year by releasing her debut single “Body & Soul,” which is available for download and streaming on all major outlets.

With everything she’s accomplished in January alone, 2018 looks to be DJ Poizon Ivy’s most promising year yet.

NBA All-Star Weekend kicks off February 16th. In the meantime, check out DJ Poizon Ivy’s single “Body & Soul” below!
