Electric Forest Announces Huge Expansion for 2017
Electric Forest has officially announced that it will span not one, but two weekends in 2017. This Michigan-based festival is absolutely best in class, and its 2017 upgrade will have huge, positive implications for fans.
Forest has been growing year after year, and the decision to cover 2 entire weekends was made in order to accommodate more festival-goers without having to try and expand its capacity, which some might argue is already bursting at the seams. Not only this, but Electric Forest will now have 2 separate – but occasionally overlapping – lineups for music, art, workshops and more. Should anyone be so fortunate as to be able to attend both weekends of Forest, they will be treated to two completely unique experiences, even if there are artists who play both times.
From the official announcement:
Over the past six years, the strength and spirit of the Forest Family have grown beyond our wildest dreams. But as we also grow in size, we keep coming back to one important question: How do we preserve intimacy and integrity while welcoming new friends?
Our community is an ever-evolving experiment of culture, creativity, and friendship where we explore what happens when the complexities of our daily lives are put on hold in favor of connecting with one another on a deeper level. Yet, there are many who do not have the opportunity to participate because weekend passes sell out so quickly. Why not expand something that creates so much good? Why not allow our collective energy to create space for new ideas, and greater participation? This is not untethered growth. This is mindful evolution with tremendous care being placed on the deepest ideals of the Forest. Electric Forest 2017 represents a meaningful, organic expansion into the creative wilderness that honors the experience we cherish together.
Forest will take place from June 22-25 and June 29-July 2 of 2017. If you love music, art, connecting with people and having life experiences that are positively magical, I highly suggest you block off one of those weekends and stay tuned for more Forest updates. My weekend at Electric Forest in 2015 was one of the most fun, beautiful and memorable of my life, and I was heartbroken to miss out this year. It is a mistake I refuse to make again! And now you have twice as many opportunities to attend.
