Electric Zoo Returns to NYC for Labor Day Weekend
I have attended Electric Zoo – commonly shortened to the friendlier “EZoo” – for at least one day for the past 3 years, and this Saturday will mark my 4th EZoo experience. What I’ve loved about Electric Zoo in the past is its killer lineups, the relatively small size of Randall’s Island, and the incorporation of the zoo theme through the art installations on the ground (which this year is highlighted by the addition of “Wild Island” to the festival name).
There’s a little something for everyone on this year’s EZoo lineup. There are the massive headliners in Bassnectar, Porter Robinson, Tiesto, The Chainsmokers, and more. You can get your fill of live instruments with Goldfish and Big Gigantic, get trappy with ETC! ETC! or feel the bass from G Jones. And as anyone in the NYC EDM scene knows, Electric Zoo’s Sunday School stage is dedicated to showcasing house and techno with a focus on the underground. Though I’m not usually a Sunday School kind of girl, even I can’t stay away this time and plan on closing out my Saturday with Bicep.
If you need a break from the music at Electric Zoo you can indulge in delicious food and beverages, explore the art and the beautiful surroundings, or just relax on the grass while you regain your energy. And if you have an excess of energy? EZoo may end at 11pm, but there are a wealth of afterparties to keep the dancing going.
As a resident of Brooklyn, Electric Zoo is a short subway ride away and a summer highlight for me. I can’t wait to get my boogie on to this insane collection of some of the best that electronic music has to offer.
