Five People Dead at The BPM Music Festival

An unrevealed gunman killed a reported number of five people at The BPM Music Festival earlier this morning in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

According to multiple reports, the shooting took place at the Blue Parrot nightclub, which prompted in five casualties and at least fifteen injured. The organizers of The BPM Music Festival expressed their condolences in an official statement that was recently published on the festival’s Facebook Page:

“The BPM Festival has been working closely with the local authorities (Seguridad Publica / Policia Turistica) throughout the festival to ensure public safety and security for all visitors. We are overcome with grief over this senseless act of violence and we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and government officials as they continue their investigation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and their families and all those affected by these tragic events.

The BPM Music Festival celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, with DJs, performers and electronic music connoisseurs from all across the world who were all present for this 10-day event. With the positive energy, atmosphere and happiness that music festivals tend to bring to the electronic dance music community, tragedy was probably the last subject to cross any festival-goer’s mind.
