Get Ready for Elements Music & Arts Festival
I wasn’t sure what to expect from last year’s Elements Festival. A single-day festival on the Brooklyn waterfront, Elements – run by BangOn!NYC – promised a kickass lineup, performers, artists, and a whole bunch of other stuff that seemed almost too good to be true.
I make a point of packing each summer with music events and festivals of all shapes and sizes, and Elements was one of my favorites of 2015. The waterfront location may sound luxurious, but in fact, it’s gritty in all the right ways, as any good Brooklyn party should be.
Elements 2016 takes place on August 13th and somehow has an even more stacked lineup than last year. I, for one, have been waiting not-so-patiently for this day since they announced the festival several months ago.
Headlining this year’s festival is the master of electro-funk and soul himself, Gramatik. He’s sure to grace us with a few tracks from his relatively new, hip hop-leaning EP, Epigram, as well as some of his older, more soulful tracks that Gramatik fans love so much.
Opiuo will get the crowd moving with his funky, glitchy beats. While I’ve seen Opiuo live a few times, it’s never been in a festival setting, so I absolutely cannot wait to get down to this set in a huge, happy crowd of people.
Govinda‘s music has a Middle Eastern vibe with impressive violin work, and while Elements hasn’t released their exact schedule yet, I can only imagine how beautiful this would be to listen to right at sunset (or any time, honestly).
This is just a small sampling of the amazing music that awaits the crowd at Elements, but there’s so much more to take in at this event. There are circus performers, 3D projection mapping, art cars, and themed stages. BangOn!NYC truly knows how to take an open space and turn it into an adult playground.
Tickets for this event are moving quickly, so if you’re in the New York area or can get there next weekend, pick up your ticket ASAP. This is one event you won’t want to miss.
