Your Guide To Decadence NYE Colorado

It’s every EDM lover’s dream to ring in the new year at the biggest New Year’s Eve dance celebration in the country – otherwise known as Decadence. This two-night festival put on by Global Dance, AEG Live, and Live Nation will celebrate its sixth anniversary this year in both Colorado and Arizona. The event takes place on December 30th and 31st and features some of the biggest artists in the game. This year at the Colorado Convention Center, ravers will flock not only from Denver, but from all over the country, and maybe, all over the world.

One of the elements that makes this event so unique is the wildly diverse lineup. The talent is world-class, with some established artists and some up-and-coming. So, who should you make sure to catch this holiday season? We thought we’d put together a little guide of artists you can’t miss at this year’s Decadence Colorado.

December 30th

GRiZGRiZ, a young DJ and saxophonist, brings his extremely unique style onto the Decadence playing field. His style will set him apart from other performers due to his jazzy sound combined with hip-hop beats. Currently residing in Boulder, GRiZ loves to perform in the state he calls home. In fact, according to Spotify, Denver is the home of GRiZ’s most monthly listeners; so, he loves Colorado, and it loves him right back. Therefore, it’s no surprise he made this year’s lineup, and you won’t want to miss him ringing in 2017 in one of his favorite places.

Bassnectar – A one-of-a-kind icon in his genre, Bassnectar brings elements to the stage that most producers don’t. One of these is the social and political activism that he promotes with his music. Another is the style of music itself – an eccentric blend of bass, dubstep, and more, which come together to create a sound completely his own. His most recent appearance in Denver at Bass Center had bassheads flocking from near and far to hear him headline the two-night event. This holiday season will without a doubt be the same, so make sure you see him send off 2016 in style.

RL Grime vs. Baauer – Ah, a battle set. This will be a must-see simply because of the combination that composes this duo. Both of these artists bring similar elements to the table while still producing a sound that is totally unique and their own. Both are New York-based, with RL Grime being from New York City and Baauer being out of Brooklyn. Both DJs combine their own hip-hop beats with an electro sound to create a trap style that is fresh and trendy. Decadence-goers should make sure to check out RL Grime and Baauer’s track “Infinite Daps”, and to catch what is sure to be an epic battle set from two of the year’s biggest trap kings.

December 31st

Snails – This Canadian artist brings his slimy, thick bass sounds to the New Year’s lineup. From releasing countless hits, to touring with Safe in Sound, it was a big year for Snails. It only makes sense that he would want to hold his last performance of 2016 in the bass capital of the world. Anyone who wants to get their dance on this New Year’s Eve should make sure to catch this set, which is sure to be chalked full of the filthy drops that Snailheads know and love.

Flume – Another DJ and producer celebrating a monumental year is Australian artist Flume. Flume brings his unique style and collaborations to the Decadence stage this winter. His chart-topping second album “Skin” was released this year, and includes hits such as “Never Be Like You” and “Say It” featuring artists from Tove Lo to Beck. His last appearance in Denver was back in mid-August at Red Rocks, so anyone who missed that performance should especially make sure to catch him this New Year’s Eve.

The Chainsmokers – Anyone who’s seen this duo perform live before knows there’s much more to their performances than the electro-pop sounds heard on the radio. In fact, these two combine their hit singles with modern trap and bass-y dubstep in a way that never slows down. In their most recent stop in the Denver area, the two made their Red Rocks debut of their hit single “Closer” by introducing it as a song they wrote specifically for the state of Colorado. What better way to ring in the new year than to celebrate with one of EDM’s biggest duos in one of their favorite places?

While the main lineup was released a few months ago, artists are still being announced for this event. On Tuesday six more artists were revealed: Sean Tyas, Michael Brun, Sun Squabi, Borgeous, Showtek, and Adventure Club. More are still to come at an unkown later date.

Whether you’re a trap lover, a basshead, or a techno-guru, there is something for you at this year’s Decadence. While the above artists are iconic, there are countless notable performers on this year’s lineup. So relax, sit back, and enjoy the music. No matter who you decide to see this New Year’s Eve, you really can’t go wrong if you decide to spend it in the City of Decadence.
