Jingle Ball 2016 Review; EDM Holiday Season
A blizzard of EDM swirling inside the California Expo Pavilion brings out the holiday spirit at the 2016 Jingle Ball concert in Sacramento.
Some of the coldest DJs in the realm of EDM took the stage performing in front of a sold-out crowd. The lineup included Alexx Adam, Krewella, Dillion Francis, and The Chainsmokers. Each artist’s set last over-an-hour while keeping the crowd warm with their signature styles and drops.
Ravers dressed up in their nicest EDM Christmas outfits which complimented the holiday atmosphere. The ambience of the red and green lights created a merry time for the fans and performers. Jingle Ball was rocking from the beginning to end.
After California native Alexx Adam made his presence felt with his hypnotic drops, Krewella took the stage hyping up their “Krew” fans using rock influenced sounds and rhythms. Dillion Francis came out with his signature moombahton sound getting the crowd even more amped.
A fifteen minute delay occurred during Francis‘ set because of a power outage in the building. However, The blackout did not stop the fans from being energized. Francis led them in a humorous “YMCA” dance as a distraction from the unplanned break in his set. Francis finishing his performance set the tone for arguably the hottest EDM group in the world.
The Chainsmokers were getting roars and applauses before dropping any beat. Multiple cutouts, along with human bodies, were hoisted into the air. The duo strongly interacted with the crowd while repetitively asking, “Where are our fans at?”. Embracing the Sacramento crowd, group member Andrew Taggart danced on the stage and turn tables. He spent majority of that time chanting into the mic consistently entertaining and hyping up the crowd.
Through out the set they were playing classic hip-hop throwbacks including “Love Lockdown” by Kanye West and “Still D.R.E” by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. The crowd displayed majority of its praise and passion for the duo when they performed their chart-topping hits “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Closer”.
There will not be another Holiday party quite like this as the 2016 Jingle Ball’s success is not only credited to the amazing EDM DJs, but also the passionate fans and ravers that came out to have a good time.
