Justice Announced New Album, Woman, Due This Fall
House legends’ also release new single, signalling the advent of a jubilant dance party coming this November.
French electronic duo, Justice, announce the release of a new LP this fall. Entitled Woman, it serves as the third LP in Justice’s catalog and their first effort in five years.
Alongside the announcement comes the album’s second confirmed single, “Randy”, which premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Annie Mac.
Brimming with exuberance, “Randy” contains a fusion of industrial styling with the power-pop effects of acts like Passion Pit. Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, the two halves of Justice, attribute the track’s liveliness to simply being “in such a good mood that day.”
“We ended up making the song as it is that is real like joyful,” de Rosnay said on Radio 1. “Like if you’re in the car with your best friends or your lover or your kids. And that’s the feeling of the whole record I guess.”
“Randy” follows the release of “Safe and Sound”, which dropped earlier in August, though without the announcement of an LP. The latter track echoes the sounds of Justice records past, with a chorus of adolescent voices cheering the listener onwards. Like “Randy”, it too glows with assurance and zeal, a further indication that Woman may be quite a celebration.
Even with only two albums under their belts, Augé and de Rosnay already hold the status of EDM legends. Their debut, † (or Cross) took the world by storm in the mid-aughts, giving us an instant classics in tracks such as “D.A.N.C.E.” and “Genesis”, and their status only augmented with 2011’s Audio, Video, Disco, which has kept us satiated for five years.
As of now, Justice’s only planned appearance this year is at Beach Goth Festival in Silverado, CA, this coming October. However, the with the surprise announcement of Woman, expect to begin seeing their faces appear on festival prediction lists for 2017.
