Last Minute Costumes For All Your Raving Needs
So Halloween is just under a week away, and Halloweekend is even closer. Let’s say you don’t even have the slightest idea which persona to take on this lovely Hallow’s eve. Or maybe you ordered a costume, but it just isn’t going to work for you. Perhaps you even have an event you’re looking forward to attending, such as a festival, rave, or maybe just a classic costume party, but you’re stressing because you feel unprepared. Well, look no further — Mix is hooking you up with the ultimate guide to easy (and cheap!) last minute costumes.
This might sound a little odd at first, but it might be the easiest costume known to man. You can pretty much just wear any athletic clothes you want and carry some sort of athletic equipment. Oh, and you have to cover yourself and your clothes in gold metallic body paint. But if you’re going to a rave you were probably going to do that anyway, right?
Rabbits and mice and cats, oh my! Let’s be real here. You’ve seen a million of these costumes. If a costume had to win the award for most basic, it would be one of these. But there’s a reason these costumes are so wildly popular, and its because they’re the most classic and simple cute costumes in the game. You can literally go to any Walmart, Target, you name it, and find a pair of rabbit, cat, or mouse ears. Plop them on with an outfit of your choice, and you’ll look like you actually tried. Add a cute nose and whiskers, and you’ll have a put-together look that will get you compliments all night long.
The beauty of dressing as a clown is that the majority of the costume is in the makeup rather than the clothes. If you weren’t really feeling up for going shopping for an actual outfit, this is the Halloween look for you! You can do as much or as little as you want with it. You can go out and find goofy clothes, a crazy wig, and a red nose, but you can also get away with skipping this step and still having your costume be pretty obvious. Not sure how to apply this kind of makeup? There are lots of tutorials online for all different types of clowns. Whether you want to be Pennywise or the clown doll from Poltergeist, whether you want to be cute or terrifying, there is a look just for you. But don’t clown around too long! These makeup techniques might take a couple practice runs to perfect.
If none of these costume ideas float your boat, not to worry. You do still have other options. First, take a look at what you already have. If you’ve been in the festival circuit for a while, there’s a good chance you’ve begun to collect a decent amount of rave clothing and costume pieces that weren’t even meant for Halloween initially. While we all love the idea of getting something new for ourselves, sometimes mixing-and-matching old pieces to create a new look can be just as good! If you can’t come up with a full outfit from your current inventory, try heading to your local Goodwill or another local secondhand store. These stores carry tons of Halloween attire, and for crazy low prices. Once you’re in there, it won’t be difficult to get inspired — you can create an entire look based on a 99-cent mask, a wig, or another eye-catching piece that you find.
And lastly, don’t forget to have FUN! Halloween is all about expressing yourself, so as long as you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, that’s really all that matters.
