Movement Detroit 2017 Adds Phase 2 Lineup

Movement Detroit returns for its 18th year at Hart Plaza with one of its freshest lineups to date.
The three-day festival draws dance music talent from across the globe to the Motor City for a full Memorial Day weekend (May 27-29) of proper techno. Initially known as Detroit Electronic Music Festival, the annual gathering has secured a reputation as one of the world’s most highly anticipated dance events. Though the festival has gone through its fair share of name changes, one thing remains the same: its unreal level of talent.
Movement’s Phase 1 lineup was released back in December and featured an impressive bill stacked with Monday’s main stage headliner Carl Cox, The Belleville ThreeJoseph Capriati, Ben Klock, Chris Liebing, Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer, Dixon, Pan-Pot, DJ Harvey and live acts from Soul Clap, Recondite, Rodriguez Jr, Orphx, Paranoid London and more.
The second wave of announced acts includes Saturday’s main stage headliner and ENTER innovator Richie Hawtin, Stranger Things synth masters S U R V I V E, Seth Troxler, CajmereRed Axes, Memphis MC Juicy J and Deadmau5’s techno alias, Testpilot, who will be headlining on Sunday. Check out the lineup below!
In case you’re in need of a quick history lesson, the esteemed Belleville Three are responsible for the birth of Detroit techno. Juan “The Initiator” Atkins, Derrick “The Innovator” May and Kevin “The Elevator” Saunderson will be celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, which gives us even more reason to dance.
Movement acts as a tribute to the city of Detroit and the wide breadth of influence the city’s had on the development of music and culture. From Motown Records to hip-hop luminaries like Eminem and J Dilla, Detroit is responsible for producing a myriad of our favorite sounds.
