New EDM Single – Save Me – Hippie Sabotage
Two of the most active EDM DJs on the road, the brothers of Hippie Sabotage, have been putting out quality single after quality single this year. Their newest track, “Save Me,” is one of the two EDM DJs’ finest works as this year comes to a close. The definitive mellow style of Hippie Sabotage is entirely present throughout the length of “Save Me,” alongside some definitely newer elements of sound in their repertoire.
The start of “Save Me” by Hippie Sabotage has a super heavy trap feel to it. The vocals are distorted in a quiet somber way, which complements the stutter of the trap rhythm well. I would compare the vocals to those of rapper A$AP Rocky. Off that note, I do honestly feel like the beat sounds a bit like Clams Casino (who’s made multiple beats for A$AP Rocky), but the twang and more mellow elements are definitively Hippie Sabotage. There’s a strong presence of low bass and some resonating clatter and claps.
There’s a heavy metal guitar element present in “Save Me” by Hippie Sabotage as well. It adds a creepy, slightly shrill elements to the more repetitive, slower trap elements. Even with the shrillness at play, and these somewhat gloomier sounds harmonizing, there’s still a mellow feeling to the song. The distortion of the lyrics seems to slightly become more understandable as “Save Me” by Hippie Sabotage goes on.
Throughout the length of “Save Me” by Hippie Sabotage, the uniquely trippy and mellow sounds of the two DJs come through. While the trap elements are newer, I would definitely argue its still Hippie Sabotage’s style at the core. There’s a fun use of effects, some cools flicks and clicks, as well as the signature mellow fadeout. The cool trap and rap vibes throughout “Save Me” by Hippie Sabotage are new, but certainly not a departure from their uniquely peaceful style.
