NY Affordable Housing for Musicians

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is trying to keep artists and musicians in his city by offering new low-income housing for the creative type.

Back in 2010 Patti Smith said “New York has closed itself off to the young and the struggling. But there are other cities. Detroit. Poughkeepsie. New York City has been taken away from you. So my advice is: Find a new city.” According to Consequence of Sound, the New York City Mayor is trying to change everyone’s mind on this statement.

The Mayor’s plan is to develop 150 units each year over the next 10 years alongside a separate 500 total units of work space.
