One on One With DJ and Producer CID
New York DJ and Producer, CID is making waves throughout the dance music industry with his latest track ‘No’ and very HOT music video for his intoxicating track ‘Love Is Blind.’ We felt it was fitting to finally catch up with this fast rising star who is backed by the EDM icon, Kaskade himself.
You began DJ’ing at a young age,How has your style changed through the years?
I think what changed the most for me was: as I got exposed to more and more dance music I started to develop a more specific taste for what I liked and didn’t like.
What do you want your fans to take away from your music?
I just want people to feel good, have a good time, and leave with a smile on their face.
Tell the new EDM fans how your music sets you apart from other DJ’s and producers out there?
I think in a time where a lot of DJ’s are playing it safe by sticking to music they know will get a reaction, we’ve lost that element of surprise. I try to always have new original music or remixes/edits I’m working on that I know no one has heard before to keep my sets unique.
The music video for ‘Love is Blind’ is intoxicating. What was it like working with both Iskra Lawrence and Bones The Machine?
Thanks! Yes, I’m really excited for this video. In an era where everything is overly photo-shopped and edited, it’s really refreshing to see how Iskra is taking a stand against all of that. Bones is a great dancer and he brought a really unique look to the video that complimented Iskra really well!
Yes! I’m so excited for everyone to see the video! you can watch it below
You just released your single ‘No’ which was a year in the making. We have seen it get a lot of attention from other DJ’s on their radio shows. How do feel about the reception of the track?
Man! you have no idea how good it feels for this to finally see the light of day. Its getting great support from a lot of different DJ’s. Not just house DJ’s but also the big room guys are playing it which I’m really happy about!
What is the biggest misconception about being a DJ?
The biggest misconception is probably that if you’re a DJ you must be big into partying and drinking..
If you were not a DJ/producer what would you be doing?
Well, not a lot of people know this but I went to school for accounting.. so I would probably be doing that.
What has been your favorite Festival or club to perform at so far?
I think the highlight so far was getting to play the Redux art cart at EDC Las Vegas before Kaskade.. that’s definitely where a lot of people first discovered me as a DJ.
Craziest thing that has happened on during a set?
Fire alarm went off while I was dj’ing once and it shut down the entire sound system except for the booth monitors in the middle of my set.. I looked up and saw everyone stopped moving.. We had to take the booth speakers and move them to face the crowd until the club system came back on.
What is the best advice you have been given?
You are only as relevant as your last song.
Everyone has one, what is your guiltiest pleasure?
Right now… Thin mints.. seriously have to keep those away from me.
If you could have a super power what would it be?
Ability to read minds.
What do you enjoy doing in your down time?
On my downtime I like to keep it low key, hang out with friends and family.
