One-on-One with DJ and Producer Moti

DJ/producer, Moti, hailing from Amsterdam, has wasted no time in ascending the peak of the current electronic dance music scene. His impressive talents first emerged on the scene in 2012 by  releasing “Circuits” and  “Kinky  Denise,” two  high-‐profile collaborations with  fellow Dutch
producer Quintino for Afrojack’s  Wall  Recordings.
By the end of 2013 MOTi signed with Tiësto’s Red Light Management and found  himself playing for more than 15,000 people alongside Tiësto and Calvin Harris at an Amsterdam Dance Event Heineken showcase. As he blazes his way to the top of the electronic-‐music sphere, it is quite certain that MOTi has become an unstoppable force.

Read our one-on-interview with this very talented DJ/Producer below.

First I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to interview you.

Thank you, happy to connect!

How did you get involved in the music industry?

A friend of mine sold his turntables. I bought them and started practicing just for fun. A few years later  I started producing and this led to me signing to a management.

Who have been your inspirations growing up who also inspire you today?

Definitely my parents. Musically Jimi Hendrix, Alter Ego & Derrick May.

What do you want your fans to take away from your music?

It depends. For the club tracks I just want people to have a good time and party to the music. For the slower tracks or less clubby tracks I hope people get carried away by it when thedm-dj-moti-tiestoey play it at home.

You have played alongside of Tiesto and Calvin Harris, collaborated with Martin Garrix and Sander van Doorn just to name a few and you have seen accolades and remixes from numerous artist inside and outside electronic music. Who has been the most influential to your career?

Definitely Tiësto. When he signed me my whole career went to the next level.

“Turn Me Up” featuring Nabiha has been getting a TON of exposure and support. Does it still get you excited to see how well your hard work pays off or is it just another day at the office feel?

Yes of course its exciting and especially with this record. Its a bit different from my previous records so I’m super happy with the support!

edm dj motiThe relationship with the audience is crucial for a DJ, and yet it seems to be a fragile one. How do you see the balance between giving the crowd what they want and treating them to something new?

I think its good to do a combination. I always try to play mostly my own tracks in my set, but if I notice its a commercial crowd, I play mashups of my own records with popular vocals, that always works!

What has been your favorite Festival or club to perform at so far?

Bootshaus Germany, RFM Somnii Portugal, Guaba Beach Club

Craziest thing that has happened on during a set?

Peeing under the dj booth in a cup because there wasn’t time to go off stage.

What is one track/song that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it? Any genre.

Fish Go Deep – The Cure And & The Cause (Dennis Ferrer Remix)dj moti

What do you enjoy doing in your down time?

Halo 5, Call Of Duty or just hanging out with friends

Best advice you have been given?

Make the music you like not what others expect of you

If you were not a DJ/producer what would you be doing?

Fashion Designer, I studied fashion

Please let everyone know where they can follow you

Any Shout-out’s or Thank you’s?
Shout-out to the fans without them I wouldn’t be doing what I do
