Outside Lands 2016

Outside Lands 2016

Probably the most hipster festival of the year is Outside Lands, which is located on the island of the beautiful San Francisco. Located in the historic Golden Gate Park on August 5-7, Outside lands has one of the most diverse musical lineups that you’ll see in 2016. With headlines from Radiohead, Lionel Richie, LCD Soundsystem, Lana Del Rey, J. Cole, and Duran Duran, you’ll go through a constant travel of back and forth through time. This is event also has the most variety of ages who attend the event, with the majority being millennials, their’s also a large portion of adults who would be considered baby boomers that you’ll see jamming out to their favorite 80’s bands.

In my experience of going to OSL, the main reason this festival is so special is the San Francisco culture that’s involved. You are literally surrounded by thousands and thousands of ginormous trees and grass hills, and the entire park is covered in local art that represents the city. Along with the great musical variety, amazing art, and the beautiful scenery that this festival allows you to indulge in, we cannot forget about the food! You can find the best bites from around town and the Bay area with actual reasonable prices. With specialty items including chicken and waffles and the donut cheeseburger, yes you read that correctly a donut cheeseburger that instead of using buns they use to glazed donuts, Outside Lands is guaranteed to satisfy the stomach of any festival goer.

A couple other cool features of Outside Lands include the Beer Lands. To which you can get a wristband for and have an all you can drink type of buffet, with options of beers that reach into the hundreds. The variety of side shows that are scattered around the park allow for entertainment when you’re traveling stage to stage, which is much needed because this park is huge and the stages are vastly spread out. This allows you too not hear the other performances when you’re at the one your prefer.  Other festivals should take note, but that’s none of my business.

Also once the festival concludes each night is when the real party begins, because remember you’re in the city of San Francisco. You don’t have to worry about the camping aspect because that’s not offered at OSL, and unique local bars and clubs make for a wonderful after party. Then go back to you’re hotel and get a much needed night of rest to be ready for the next day.

If you aren’t already going you should really consider it, that FOMO will most definitely kick in and nobody likes regrets. I think it’s becoming a tradition for me to spotlight artist that are playing the festival by attaching their most famous song that they are known for. Here ya go!
