Pretty Lights Plays Northerly Island (Chicago)
Imagine having a city skyline as a backdrop to an outdoor music show. Well, you don’t have to hold your breath for too long because Northerly Island – Huntington Bank Pavilion in Chicago gives you just that: a night illuminated by the city lights. Pretty Lights with support from The Floozies, Big Wild and The Soul Rebels certainly kicked off night one of Episodic Festival: Episode 8 delivering chill, electronic vibes all night long.
The evening was perfect: temperatures in the upper 70s, zero humidity and a light breeze. If you’ve ever visited Chicago you know Mother Nature can change her mind in a split second, thankfully she decided to play nice and bless concert goers with an amazing night.
The first half of the set picked up from where the intermission’s reggae jam session left off: downtempo beats. At mid set, Pretty Lights welcomed a live band to accompany him for a few songs. The Soul Rebels accompanied the Colorado-based electronic DJ and producer for some soul funk electronic beats taking you to the streets of New Orleans.
Music event production is keeping up with technological advances. The light show throughout the night was nothing short of amazing, and at one point the LED screen behind Pretty Lights outlined his body with lights tracing his body movements similar to Alison Wonderland‘s Lollapalooza 2017 visuals.
People of all walks of life came together to enjoy a night with Pretty Lights under the city stars as summer in Chicago closes out. That’s the beautiful thing about music, it brings people together to share in a cathartic journey.
