Secret Solstice Invites You to Party Inside a Iceland Volcano

Iceland’s Secret Solstice is no stranger to the creative places to hold a party. Last year the event series hosted the world’s first party in a glacier, bringing together 70 fans for an ‘ice rave.’ They followed that up with the announcement of the most expensive VIP ticket in the world, offering a $200,000 festival experience.

Upping the ante, Secret Solstice has announced the world’s first concert inside a volcano. To ease your mind a little the volcano has been dormant for 4000 years. However, the guests will be carried to the mouth of the Thrihnukagigur volcano by helicopter where they will descend 400 feet in an open elevator. Once there, they witness the first-ever intro-volcanic performance from a yet-to-be-named artist.

“We have someone special, though we want attendees to be surprised when we announce who it is at a later stage,” Secret Solstice director Fred Olafsson says. “I will say that it will be an acoustic performance by a very famous name, and we promise guests will be impressed when we finally make the big reveal.”

‘Inside The Volcano,’ as it’s being billed, will be limited to 20 guests, and as expected, it won’t be cheap. The entire thing will cost 250,000 Icelandic krona, or about $1970. The ticket includes full access to Secret Solstice’s main event, which runs in Reykjavík from June 16-19 and features Radiohead, Deftones, Jamie Jones and more.
