Splash House: The Musical Oasis Under The Sun
Splash House, the proverbial summer migration to Palm Springs, is gearing up. More than prepped for a massive round two this weekend, the summer event is ready to impress crowds of hip hop and house fans who are ready for their turn at fun in the sun.
Starting Friday August 11th and raging through Sunday the 13th, the pool party of the ages, promises an amazing line up with huge festival leaders like Big Gigantic, Phantoms (DJs set), SNBRN and Kaytranada. Created in 2013 by Tyler McLean, Splash House has grown consistently, drawing bigger acts and bigger crowds by delivering undeniably fun pool parties that resonate a laid back yet classy, day party atmosphere. By brilliantly providing an escape from the desert heat, the festival spreads itself across 4 locations using shuttles to usher fans from pool venue to pool venue through out the day and a separate venue at night.
Located at the Saguaro, the Renaissance and the Riviera Hotels and later extending to the Palm Springs Air museum, Splash House is a huge benefit for local businesses. The flocking music fans inevitably arrive by the hundreds considerably late into into the Palm Springs summer vacation season. This late spike in local business revenue gives the city an economic boost and exposes unfamiliar faces to the true beauty that the city has to offer. Even Yasmin Espinoza the manager of Great Clips, which is located across the street from the Saguaro Hotel, told local news KMIR their business welcomes the influx of visitors. She stated that the by appointment business gets “30-40 extra people that they wouldn’t normally have” day-to-day. With tourism giving life to local economy small local businesses and the community are seeing this huge surge as a plus.
At this musical oasis in the desert, festivalgoers will shuttle from hotel to hotel, chasing the sounds of the many big name acts found on the line up. This year’s roster reflects the success of previous years by boasting substantially more acclaimed acts throughout the weekend.
Mr. Carmack from Hawaii bringing his heavy hitting hip-hop/ Dance hybrid is sure to be at the top of attendees lists of must see acts. Another big name to set as a top priority is the Desert Hearts collective led by Lee Reynolds and Mikey Lion. The group has been touring the nation show casing their quintessential burner/house vibes to sold out venues through out the year and now are ready to light up the Palm desert. Albeit the line up is to loaded to mention all of the acts you should be seeing, the list of our recommended artists ends with the fun and undeniably catchy rapper KYLE. If somehow didn’t catch his hit single “I Spy” featuring Lil Yachty, which smashed the charts this year, the video currently stands at 110,000,000 views on YouTube, you should check him out!
Needless to say the Splash House August line up is going to set the new standard for California pool parties and solidify the festival as a full-fledged heavy weight in the ever-growing field of summer events across the nation. With its unique desert oasis vibe and wide range of undeniable talent, you will need to pack up your swim wear and make the musical pilgrimage to the promised land (Splash House)!
