The Juke and Footwork of Los Angeles
From the beat scene at Low End Theory to jazz fusion at The Baked Potato, Los Angeles is the home to an extremely eclectic music scene. There is, however, one scene in particular that is experiencing a strong rise not just in the city of LA, but throughout the world as well. From Poland, to Japan, to the United Kingdom, the juke and footwork scene is becoming an increasingly popular musical and cultural movement.
All over the world these events bring in hundreds to thousands of music lovers to dance the night away and in our very own Los Angeles, the juke and footwork scene is growing. In Downtown Los Angeles’ Little Tokyo lives a juke and footwork event that happens every Tuesday on the dot between the wee hours of 9am and 3am. Produced and organized by the company Juke Bounce Werk, Rocksteady Tuesdays moves your heart and feet to the music at the beautiful Tokyo Beat, a popular venue for karaoke and dancing in the fire of Little Tokyo.
For every Rocksteady Tuesdays lies a slew of new and popular DJs from the LA music scene giving it their all to give you the best show possible. And if you are lucky, you sometimes might be able to spot LA legends Skrillex and Daedelus dancing with the crowd, eating some ramen at the bar, or putting on a special set for the Tokyo Beat audience. The best feature about Rocksteady Tuesdays, though, is the free entry for anyone who happens to be 21 or older.
If you are looking for some steam to blow off after a hard day’s work or just feel like dancing to some of the best music Los Angeles has to offer then I highly suggest spending your night at Rocksteady Tuesdays, you won’t be disappointed.
