[Listen] The Path by Hippie Sabotage
Two of EDMs most talked about DJs, the brothers of Hippie Sabotage, have a new song out called “The Path” that is absolutely awesome. “The Path” came out not too long ago, following one of their other newest releases – “Righteous.” The brothers of Hippie Sabotage are known for a super mellow style accompanied by heavy bass and just a hint of trippy elements. “The Path” definitely keeps with that style and brings in new elements that are just killer.
“The Path” by Hippie Sabotage has a very mellow start. There’s a solemn quietness to the rhythm and some sound effects that make the mind think of mist. Then, the boom of bass kicks in. The vocals, which are purposefully and effectively distorted, and the bass go very well hand in hand. There’s clicking elements, as well as some clattery sound effects that bring about a unique harmony with the bass. I think all in all it builds into a unique speed for the brothers of Hippie Sabotage.
The breakdown itself is totally awesome. “The Path” is very much like trap, compared to their older songs. The starting and stopping is definitely derivative of that. However, the use of static sound effects and the buzzing of amplifiers really adds to the raw and gritty effects they are known for. Also, of course, the use of percussion throughout “The Path” is totally unique and downright fun.
The bass slaps throughout “The Path” are consistent, while the lyricism is almost unintelligible, but still somehow harmonious with the beat. Overall, there is a strong almost hymnal fee to the song, even amid the intricate trap-heavy drops. There’s a peacefulness to the beats, the vocals, and wel just about everything. “The Path” is complex, riveting, and definitively Hippie Sabotage.
