Thievery Corporation Plays Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom
Thievery Corporation delivered an unforgettable performance this past Friday at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom as part of their Ultimate Tour Experience. The 20 city tour is also giving a select number of fans the opportunity to experience the show up, close and personal with an exclusive access pass. At each venue, there’ll be designated areas, either the photo pit or the side of the stage, where a limited number of fans can watch the show from.
The group, made up of core band members Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, has been around since the mid 90s before the explosion of electronic music. Thievery Corporation‘s sounds mimic the global footprint from their hometown and the country’s capital: D.C. Their eclectic songs dip into varying genres including bossa nova, jazz, reggae, dub and electronic.
With electronic music you’re only limited by your imagination.. — Rob Garza
The young night welcomed the gentle, soft sounds and vocals characterized by the group. Dressed in black pants and a reflective gold color light jacket and sporting comfortable, broken in Adidas, Rob Garza took center stage as the rest of the band surrounded him. Throughout the night several singers would accompany him to sing some of Thievery Corporation‘s classic songs including ‘Lebanese Blonde’ and ‘The Heart’s a Lonely Hunter’ and also played some of their latest album Temple of I & I including ‘Letter to the Editor’ featuring Racquel Jones and ‘Fight to Survive.’
The Temple of I & I is a place of worship that exists only in our imagination; a place where all people are chosen people and the unity of living things is possible… — Eric Hilton
