BlendJet Recalls 4.8 Million Portable Blenders Due to Safety Hazards
BlendJet, a well-known manufacturer of portable blenders, is recalling approximately 4.8 million units of its BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders due to laceration and fire hazards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received numerous reports of injuries and safety concerns associated with these blenders.
According to the CPSC, the BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders have been found to overheat, catch fire, and, in some cases, have blender blades that break off during use. This has led to 329 reports of blades breaking, 17 reports of overheating or fires, 49 reports of minor burn injuries, and one laceration injury.
In light of these safety concerns, BlendJet is urging consumers to immediately stop using the recalled blenders and contact the company for a free base unit replacement. To receive the replacement part, customers will need to remove and cut up the base’s rubber seal and provide a photo through BlendJet’s website. This precautionary measure is being taken to ensure the safety of consumers.
The recall only affects older models of the BlendJet 2 blenders. The currently available models have updated components and are not subject to the recall. BlendJet has taken steps to address the safety concerns by making improvements to the base of the BlendJet 2, including thicker blades and an improved electrical configuration.
Consumers can verify if their blender is under recall by visiting BlendJet’s website or contacting the company directly. It is important to note that the recalled BlendJet Portable Blenders were sold between October 2020 and November 2023, both online and at popular retailers such as Costco, Walmart, and Target.
Notably, approximately 117,000 of the recalled blenders were sold in Canada, raising concerns among Canadian consumers as well. BlendJet is actively working with regulatory authorities to ensure that affected customers in Canada also receive the necessary replacements and support.
In conclusion, BlendJet is taking serious steps to address the safety hazards associated with its BlendJet 2 Portable Blenders. Consumers are strongly advised to discontinue using the recalled blenders and contact BlendJet for a free base unit replacement. The company has made substantial improvements to the blender’s design and encourages consumers to verify if their blender is under recall. The safety of customers is BlendJet’s top priority, and they are committed to resolving this issue promptly and effectively.
