The developers behind the popular game Escape from Tarkov, Battlestate, have issued a second statement in response to backlash from players regarding their decision to lock an “exclusive” PvE mode to the expensive Unheard Edition of the game.
COO Nikita Buyanov has issued an apology for the situation, admitting that they did not anticipate such a strong reaction from the players. As a result, they have now decided to make the PvE mode available for free to owners of the Edge of Darkness Edition.
The €250 (€300 after tax) special edition of the game came under fire for including a PvE mode that was not accessible to owners of previous editions, despite promises of “free access to all subsequent DLCs.” Battlestate has clarified that the PvE mode will be opened up to all Edge of Darkness Edition owners once the server infrastructure is improved.
In addition to this change, Buyanov announced plans to introduce MOD support for the PvE mode after the game’s release, as well as to balance items, perks, and rewards for players. While the Unheard Edition will not be removed, it will be balanced, and additional unique content will be added to emphasize the Edge of Darkness version.
The team at Battlestate has reassured players that they will continue to release patches, content, and events for the game, and they have expressed their gratitude for the attention to this situation.
