Prince Harry made a rare visit to the UK this week to attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral with Princess Diana’s relatives. The Duke of Sussex was joined by Diana’s siblings, Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer, as well as his former mentor Mark Dyer.
However, all was not smooth sailing during Harry’s visit as reports emerged of trust issues between him and his father, the King. Despite these rumors, a spokesman for the royal family issued a statement with a conciliatory tone, emphasizing the importance of family unity.
While in the UK, Harry also attended a garden party hosted by the King and Queen, where he mingled with guests but did not have a formal meeting with his father, Charles. It was noted that Harry’s wife Meghan and their two children did not accompany him on this trip.
This visit marked Harry’s first time back in the UK since February, when he returned shortly after the King’s cancer diagnosis. The Duke of Sussex is in town to celebrate the anniversary of the Invictus Games, a sporting event for wounded and injured servicemen and women that he founded in 2014.
Despite the rumored tensions, Harry’s presence at the family events signals a desire for reconciliation and unity within the royal family. We will have to wait and see how this visit may impact the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and his father in the future.
