Neighbors Concerned for Safety of Children in YouTube Family’s Home
Residents living near Ruby Franke, the woman behind the popular 8 Passengers family YouTube channel, were left in shock and concern when police officers arrived at her home. The community had raised concerns regarding the safety and well-being of Franke’s children, and some had even alerted the Utah Division of Child and Family Services.
Law enforcement officers swiftly surrounded Franke’s residence with guns drawn, indicating the level of concern for the children’s welfare. Neighbors reported that Franke often found herself inserting into their lives and criticizing their actions. In fact, she had taken it upon herself to remove what she deemed as “inappropriate” posters from a neighbor’s garage.
A troubling pattern emerged as neighbors recounted instances when Franke kicked her husband out of the house, leaving the children inside while she would be absent for weeks at a time. Witnesses accused Franke of withholding food from her children as a form of punishment, a behavior that has also been on display in her YouTube videos.
Worryingly, one of Franke’s youngest daughters, who is approximately 10 years old, would regularly wander the neighborhood seeking companionship from concerned neighbors whenever her mother was away. This situation only added to the growing concerns and motivated neighbors to take action.
Unfortunately, it was only after two malnourished children were discovered with open wounds and duct tape on their extremities that the authorities intervened. Both Franke and Jodi Hildebrant, who had become involved in Franke’s life counseling service, were arrested in connection with the grim discoveries.
It has been revealed that Franke had been spending more time away from home since getting involved with Hildebrandt’s controversial parenting teachings. This life counseling service has faced criticism for its methods, further deepening the worries of the community.
Neighbors, who had been trying to bring attention to the situation for over a year, expressed frustration that their concerns were seemingly ignored. One brave neighbor even contacted the Utah Division of Child and Family Services, only to witness a wellness check being conducted with no one answering the door for the concerned officers.
Despite the challenging circumstances, the community shared its love and concern for Franke’s children, hoping they understand that their neighbors have been actively trying to help them. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen what consequences and support await the family in crisis.
