Wife of County Supervisor Convicted in Ballot Box Scheme
Kim Taylor, the wife of an Iowa county supervisor, has been found guilty of orchestrating a scheme to stuff the ballot box in her husband’s unsuccessful race for a Republican nomination. The scheme targeted voters of Vietnamese heritage with limited English comprehension.
After a lengthy trial, Kim Taylor was convicted on 26 counts of providing false information, 3 counts of fraudulent registration, and 23 counts of fraudulent voting. The goal of the scheme was to assist her husband, Jeremy Taylor, who ultimately finished third in the race for the Republican nomination.
Although Jeremy Taylor has not been charged, he has been named an unindicted co-conspirator in the case. The couple’s actions came to light when two Iowa State University students requested absentee ballots, only to discover that ballots had already been cast in their names. Woodbury county officials immediately launched an investigation.
Upon examination, it was determined that the handwriting on several of the fraudulent ballots appeared to be similar. Assistant US attorney Richard Evans stated that cases of voter fraud involving multiple ballots being cast by one person are rare but highly concerning.
Kim Taylor now faces up to five years in prison on each charge. She is currently free pending sentencing. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of fair and transparent elections, as well as the vigilance required to maintain the integrity of our voting process.
