Mikhail Parakhin, head of Bing search engine and advertising businesses at Microsoft Corp., is set to step down from his current roles. Following this decision, Parakhin will be on the lookout for a new position within the company after being asked to report to Mustafa Suleyman, who is tasked with overseeing consumer artificial intelligence work at Microsoft.
Prior to this change, Parakhin had been serving as the chief executive officer for advertising and web services at Microsoft. In his quest for a new role, Parakhin will now report to Chief Technology Officer Kevin Scott.
As a result of Parakhin’s departure, some parts of the Windows software business that he oversaw will be transitioned to Pavan Davuluri, who had previously been in charge of hardware and the rest of Windows. Davuluri will now take the reins of all Windows and Surface hardware operations, reporting to Executive Vice President Rajesh Jha.
These organizational shifts were revealed in a staff email sent out on Monday by Jha. The changes signal a restructuring within Microsoft’s leadership team, with Parakhin’s exit paving the way for new responsibilities to be distributed among key executives in the company.
It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the future direction of Microsoft’s advertising, web services, and Windows software divisions. As Parakhin embarks on his search for a new role within the company, Microsoft continues to evolve its leadership structure to meet the demands of an ever-changing technological landscape.
