The 23rd edition of the Tribeca Festival is set to kick off with a star-studded lineup of feature films, including world premieres starring some of Hollywood’s biggest names. Kristen Stewart, Lily Gladstone, and Jenna Ortega are just a few of the actors set to grace the festival’s screens.
One of the most anticipated films at this year’s festival is Saving Casa Bonita, a documentary that takes an in-depth look at South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Another standout title is Sacramento, a road trip comedy featuring Kristen Stewart in a lead role.
In addition to feature films, the festival will also showcase a diverse range of documentaries, including politically tinged films and anti-Putin fare. Tribeca Festival founder and CEO, Jane Rosenthal, emphasizes the importance of storytelling in reflecting the culture of the present moment.
Unlike previous years, this year’s festival will not have an online component, instead focusing on delivering a true New York experience to attendees. Music documentaries, a traditional element of the festival, will include films about iconic musicians such as Prince, Aretha Franklin, and Linda Perry.
The lineup also includes a documentary about the cultural impact of the Brat Pack in the 1980s and a retrospective on the films of Powell & Pressburger. With a mix of U.S. narrative and international narrative competitions, spotlight narratives, and documentaries, there is something for every film lover at this year’s festival.
Notable films in the lineup include Firebrand, starring Alicia Vikander and Jude Law, and Daddio, starring Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. The festival remains committed to showcasing diverse voices and perspectives, with a focus on films directed by women, BIPOC filmmakers, and returning Tribeca directors.
