Aspyr Launches Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Amid Technical Issues
Aspyr, a developer known for bringing classic games to modern platforms, recently launched the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. The collection bundles two beloved shooters originally released in 2004 and 2005, but the launch has been marred by technical issues.
Players have reported high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and limited servers since the collection’s release. Many have also expressed displeasure with changes to controls, menus, and the collection breaking mods. Despite this feedback, Aspyr has not issued an apology for the launch issues.
The Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is available for purchase on various platforms for £29/€34/$35. Alternatively, players can still buy and play the original games for £8.50 each, with multiplayer support re-added to versions on Steam and GOG.
While the new collection brings benefits such as a fresh influx of players, Hero Assault mode on more maps, and access to Xbox-exclusive content, it has received mixed reactions from the community. Some players have criticized the technical issues and changes made to the game.
Aspyr has thanked the community for their feedback and continues to work on resolving the technical issues with the collection. For now, players will have to weigh the benefits of the new features against the frustrations of the launch problems as they decide whether to dive into the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection.
