Former Vice President Al Gore’s son, Al Gore III, has made headlines for his support of the Biden administration’s new emission standards for electric vehicles (EVs). During a recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announcement, Gore III expressed his backing for the aggressive measures aimed at increasing the nationwide adoption of EVs and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 7.2 billion metric tons by 2032.
Gore III, who recently joined the Zero Emission Transportation Association, called the announcement a “truly historic moment” during the “Accelerating America” ceremony in Washington, D.C. However, energy expert Gabriella Hoffman noted that Gore III’s support for the EV mandate may be premature, as consumer demand for EVs and EV stocks currently do not favor such a shift.
Hoffman also criticized Gore III’s statements, pointing out issues related to the availability of rare earth minerals for EV production in the United States. Additionally, she highlighted Gore III’s previous support for the Inflation Reduction Act, which she believes has contributed to inflation, particularly in the energy sector.
Gore III’s public endorsement of the new emission standards comes amidst scrutiny of his father’s history of climate change alarmism. Al Gore Jr. has made predictions about global warming and sea level rise that have since been disproved by data from NASA, NOAA, and the Energy & Environment Legal Institute.
Despite the criticism, Hoffman suggested that Gore III may be utilized by the Biden administration in the future, given his polished demeanor and ability to promote EV evangelism to the public. As the debate over EVs and emission standards continues, Gore III’s public support could potentially influence the future of transportation and environmental policies in the United States.
