SpaceX Achieves Successful Launch of SES O3b mPOWER Mission, Adding Two Communication Satellites to Medium Earth Orbit
Cape Canaveral, FL – In another impressive feat, SpaceX successfully launched the SES O3b mPOWER mission, placing two cutting-edge communication satellites into medium Earth orbit (MEO). The mission began with the liftoff of the Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
Just 8.5 minutes after liftoff, the Falcon 9’s first stage made an impeccable vertical landing on SpaceX’s drone ship, aptly named “A Shortfall of Gravitas.” This landing showcased the company’s commitment to reusability and cost-effectiveness in space exploration.
Approximately two hours after liftoff, the rocket’s upper stage deployed the first satellite into MEO, followed by the second satellite just seven minutes later.
